■トミモとあきな初の上製本写真集『mamono』（PlaceM出版）を100部限定で販売致します。トミモと在廊時のみの販売となります。美術史家、写真評論家の伊藤俊治氏からの「マモノの燦き」と題して寄稿して頂きました。お楽しみにしてください。会期までに、ウェブサイトでもご購入頂けるように致します。
A limited-edition of 100 copies of the new photo book “mamono” will be available (PlaceM Publishing). This book will be on sale only when TOMIMO+AKINA is in the gallery.
Art historian and photography critic, Toshiharu Ito contributed an essay titled “The Shine of Mamono” for the book. We hope you will enjoy it. It will be available for purchase on the website before the exhibition.
『マモノ』シリーズについて
虚実の中からの真実を探求する試みを「マモノ」という表題にのせて制作したものです。「写真は何を写すのか」の私なりの回答でもあります。ここでいうマモノとは、⾃分⾃⾝のことであり、同時に他者のことでもあります。⼈は移ろう時間に流されながらも、様々な⾵景に出逢いながら⽣きています。皆さんご存知の通り、写真に写るのはカメラが捉えた⾵景であります。カメラが捉えた⾵景は、我々が⽬で⾒た⾵景とは似ているものですが違います。ただそれは決して虚構だけで構成されているのではなく、虚と実の織りなす世界だと考えます。表層には虚構が積み上がっていてもその奥から突き破ってくるようなエネルギーが写真に宿ることがあります。そんな写真の不思議を私は探求しています。私が探しているマモノはいつでも写真に写るわけではありません。それは、マモノが分厚い⽪膚に覆われていること、そしてまた同時に分厚い⽪膚の内側に住んでいるからでしょう。いまかいまかと⼼待ちにしていると、マモノはたまに⽪膚から外側に顔を出します。その瞬間にマモノは写真に写ります。
ストレートに撮影された写真だからこそ表現できる「写真が写してしまうもの、⽬に⾒えなくても写真に写ってしまう
もの」があると信じています。
about “mamono”
This work called ‘mamono’ was created in an attempt to explore truth from fiction. It is also my answer to “What do photographs portray?”The term ‘mamono’ here refers to oneself as well as others. People are alive while encountering various landscapes, they have swept away in the flow of time. As you all know, what you see in the photograph is the scenery captured by a camera. It is similar to the scenery we have seen, but it is different. The world caught by the camera is the spheres of fiction and truth. Even if fictions are piled up on the surface, the energy that breaks through from the bottom may reside in photographs. I am exploring the wonders of such photographs. I believe there is “unseen truth that’s captured by photographs”, which can be expressed by straight photography.
